Inversi model kecepatan satu dimensi (1D) dapat memberikan lokasi gempa bumi yang sangat akurat sebagai pengganti model tiga dimensi(3D). Model kecepatan 1D juga memberikan sebuah model awal komputasiyang stabil untuk tomografi gempa bumi lokal 3D dan relokasi gempa bumi.
